Earthy Portobello

This is one of 3 Earthy stores in Edinburgh. They sell seasonal fresh produce much of which is grown locally and includes organic, ethical and Fairtrade items. They also have dry goods, deli items, FreeFrom, and bulk buy items. They are my one stop shop if I am in the area, perfect for picking up some treats to enjoy on a trip to Porty Beach or Figgate Park nearby. There are plenty of sweet and savoury snacks to choose from, as well as drinks.

Jordans Valley

Many high-quality products, including their own brand of fresh vegan foods and accompaniments.
Fair prices, and lovely staff. Run mostly by a lovely man and his family, this place is full of healthy foods and things you might struggle to find outside the Middle East. A wall of teas, more olives, herbs and pulses than you could shake a bundle of cinnamon sticks at...
But the real appeal of this shop is the Jordan Valley product range. Everything from bags of millet or spice mixes to home-made pastries, gluten/dairy free quinoa flapjacks, falafels, it's a cornucopia that never ceases to please and surprise!

Tattie Shaws

An independent greengrocers which is always crammed full of both produce and customers.
It has a huge range of locally-grown, seasonal fruit and veggies, which are almost all sold loose, rather then pre-packaged, meaning you can get exactly what you need.
It stocks bakery items from Garvald Bakery (www.garvaldedinburgh.org.uk) and has a wide range of weird and wonderful store cupboard essentials to help you make endless delicious vegan and veggie delights.
